TOKYO WINE SOCIETY TASTING

East is Red

The last tasting was held at the Restaurant Budo-ya located in OAG House - the German Cultural Institute on November 12th. We have tried European red wines, but not from France, Italy nor Spain. They are from Germany on East to the Levant, and there also is a long tradition of wine making. We are convinced that their wines are worth trying.
We have tried Lebanon, Romania, Greece, Hungary, and Bulgarira, with German Red. I have found most of them are also made with Pino, CS, Merlot. So they are not so far from what we usually drink. Among them the hungarian wine was the first for the night. It is actually in classic Bordeaux style but has spicy Zweigelt as an accent. And that might be the reason we liked this wine. We tried East of Europe but was not so far from France at all. Only the price was different.
